Sarah Song Xiaran 宋夏然 is an artistic researcher and techspressionistcurrently pursuing her doctoral studies at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture (FI), with her research centered on exploring techno-spiritual experiences within the realm of interactive arts.
Sarah graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with an M.F.A. in Computational Arts, and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) in 2016. She was awarded the Young Media Artist Award Gold Prize and The Professor Kelly Kao Memorial Scholarship Hong Kong Baptist University in 2016.
Her creative practice converges at the intersection of the natural world, sound, and visual art. She works in a variety of media and material in order to express her vivid imagination and interact with audience. Most of her artworks aim to explore the creative relationships and possibilities between human and digital technology, virtual and reality. Her works have been exhibited in spaces such as Southampton Arts Center US, Suning Art Museum Shanghai, TANK Shanghai, Enjoy Museum of Art Beijing and SÍM Gallery Iceland. Sarah has also presented in festivals like EXPO 2020 Dubai, London Deptford X Fringe Festival, Transmediale Festival of Art & Digital Culture, The 1st Annual METAVERSE Art at Venice, Creative Code Festival New York and Artrooms Fair Roma.
